W. PENG, M. Y. TANG <br/><p>The binding energies of the atomic nuclei 2H, 3H, 3He and 4He are obtained by means of the varialional method, using as a basis the Mφller-Rosenfeld nuclear potential. A simple choice of the wave function renders the calculation elementary.
